Italy in Mid-July

ree

Ciao amici!

I’m in Italy right now! I arrived in Rome a few days ago where I stayed on the north edge of the city, in a neighborhood called “Tor di Quinto” This is an affluent residential area near the 1960s Olympic Village and known for Ponte Milvio – one of the oldest and most beautiful bridges in Rome, and a romantic place for young Romans.

I’m now in Florence, my second home. The original plan was to stay in a neighborhood called Campo de Marte, where the Fiorentina soccer stadium is located. I ended up in the city center, where I found a few great spots for those looking for an oasis of Florentine authenticity amid the many tourist traps.

Today I’m off to Lombardy where I will be staying a small town west of Milan, called Bareggio. It will be exciting to explore continental Italy, where the food and culture can be quite different from the peninsula.

I’ve been spending my time chatting with friends, snacking and browsing bookstores (along with some unrelated archery practice). I’ll be sharing more details in the next few newsletters and on Instagram @immerseitaly.

A presto!Lisa
