Italian outside of Italy

Ciao amici,

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. I skipped Turkey Day this year as I have been in Italy for the past week and half.

My journey started in Catania, Sicily where I walked along the seaside, went wine tasting and wandered around this ancient city. I then spent a couple nights in a village between Florence and Bologna where I got some fresh mountain air. After that, I spent a few nights in Florence catching up with friends and riding a bike all over the city. My final stop was in Milan where I shopped around the Christmas market and discovered some historic gems.

I’ll dissect each one of these stops in future newsletters, what I want to highlight today is how amazing it felt to speak Italian non-stop for a full 10 days. It’s gratifying to speak with ease from the second I landed to taking off. It’s proof that you can maintain, learn and update your Italian from abroad. We’re told that with language, if you don’t use it, you lose it. This is true to some extent, but with discipline and passion, your foreign language immersion can extend to wherever you are.

Go to Italy and speak like you’ve been there for months by studying grammar, vocabulary and culture with Immerse Italy. If not for yourself, Italian lessons are the perfect gift of knowledge and experience. Learn more about the private and group programs here!

I hope to see you in class soon!

Abbracci,

Lisa
